About Us

West Yorkshire Branch of the Dry Stone Walling Association is a thriving group made up of beginners, keen amateurs and professional wallers. Friendly, welcoming and enthusiastic, our Branch aims to preserve the craft of dry stone walling by maintaining and building walls in our local landscape.

Joining us is an opportunity to try something quite different. Anyone reasonably fit can have a go and there is no age or gender barrier. You might wish to learn how to repair and maintain your own garden walls simply as a hobby or further develop your skills and go on to become a part or full time professional. You could use this skill to top up your pension whilst being outdoors and keeping fit (much better than paying for gym membership).

The traditional skills involved in this craft would also make you a valued contributor to many conservation groups and would mean for the keen gardener that you could apply these skills to landscaping.

As a member with developing skills and knowledge there will be a role for you in the branch perhaps taking part in demonstrations at Local Agricultural and Village Shows or giving talks to other groups and societies.
We also involve ourselves with schools and youth groups and you might find a role there.

If you find any of the above interest you please look at our ACTIVITES Page where you will find topics covering Taster Sessions, and 2 day Walling workshops, courses and skills advancement.
